GSM hit 1.5bn users

3G Americas reports that GSM attracted some 1.5bn users, up 347m in the past twelve months. The Americas were posting the biggest gains, with 79.4m new subscribers. 3G UMTS/W-CDMA accounts for about 33m. In comparison, CDMA 2000 users account for 185m, up 73m in past twelve months.
