The Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance has contracted with IDC to assess global convergence during the next five years.

With the acquisition of Wildseed, a UK-based wireless services operator, AOL highlights ISP’s interest in mobility and creates a new division AOL Wireless.

Yahoo paid $1bn for 40% of Chinese e-commerce portal Alibaba.com.

Google acquired software developer Android Inc, and could sell as much as $4bn in stock to

 be used for more acquisitions.

Japan and India plan telecom cooperation in developing NG technology involving cellphones and broadband Internet access.
