It is done: DT is buying Orange NL, the FT mobile arm in Holland, for €1.3bn, while FT has bought DT' s Spanish unit Ya.com for €320m. FT will reach with this move a 18% ADSL market share in Spain.

The Telecom Council of the European Union has endorsed the EU Commission's recommendation to cut mobile roaming prices across European States. New rules will come into force this month after unanimous vote.

Bouyges Telecom for sale?: In spite of denial by Bouygues SA, its parent company, rumors continue to circulate for the sale of the telecom unit, and some bidders are named (KPN, Naguib Sawaris tycoon, ...) as weel as the potential selling price of €10bn.

VSNL (India) plans to spend $500m in capex this year, including investments in Neotel (South Africa).

China' s MII has suspended operation of 265 cross-regional value-added telecommunication service providers to put the market in order.
