BSS/OSS market

According to Analysys, the number of system sales announcements for telecoms IT (BSS/OSS) solutions dropped 20% in 2006, but it was mainly due to consolidation both on the supply side and on the demand side. In fact, the CRM and order management system sales remained strong in 2006, while billing, revenue assurance and mediation system sales fell significantly. A small number of vendors dominate the global market, but the top ten vendors accounted for only 36%, and the top vendor is only accounting for about 10% of the global total. Besides, hundreds of small vendors try to survive. For them, the solution is triple: Die, as recently Evolved Networks in the UK; be acquired (probably The Paradise) or develop a very tight partnership program with multiple large companies. Even big brands, but focused on the market, such as Telecordia, have problems. With IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), telecom management software and service delivery platforms (SDPs) inextricably combined in next generation networks, networks equipment vendors that have OSS product and systems integration groups will be instrumental in OSS developments in the coming years. ALU, NSN, Cisco, and Ericsson have the breadth and depth of product offerings and customer bases to strongly influence the OSS future.
