Video download needs to be free

Publié le par Jean Arnal

According to Forrester, the paid video download market is a dead end. It will peak in 2007, generating $279m in revenue, up 184%, then die. It is true for PC and broadband fixed lines, but can be extended to mobile video downloads as well. The Forrester survey shows that only 9% of online adults have ever paid to download a movie or TV show. It is a fact, people do not want to pay for multimedia downloads. So telcos, cable operators and ISPs will have to develop new business models and delivery mechanisms to make downloads free or ad-supported, in order to make it a mass market.
