Telecom strategy scenarii

Publié le par Jean Arnal

Research firm IDATE, commissioned by the Brussels Round Table of EU, has published a strategic report, Telecoms in Europe 2015, on the present state and possible futures for the European Telecom industry. Three possible scenarii are studied, according to regulations and public policies, competitive level and investment behaviors:

  • Telepocalypse scenario: the telecom industry is transformed into a utility-like industry with only a handful of large private operators. Revenues are mostly connectivity-based.

  • Convergence Compromise scenario: moderate industry revenue growth both in connectivity and applications. Wide range of tactics, from consolidation to fixed/mobile integration or application provisioning. Current regulatory framework continues as usual.

  • Evernet scenario: very dynamic and competitive European telecoms industry; cross-industry collaboration on new application development and a regulatory framework which stimulates competition and investments.

Very interesting study that offers a lot of perspectives for the future of the telecom industry in Europe. Read it!
