Worldwide Internet

The worldwide Internet population continues to grow, and its weight is shifting from Western Countries to Emerging markets. There were 747m Internet users in the world in January 2007, it is up 10% over 2006. Top five countries are respectively USA with 153.5m, up 2%, China with 87m, up 20%, Japan with 53.7m, up 4%, Germany with 32.2m, up 3%, the UK with 30m, up 1%. France is seventh with 24.5m, up 4%. The main conclusion is that developed countries are growing with 1%-5% range (except Canada and Italy in the 15%), while developing countries are experiencing double-digit growth rates, such as China with 20%, Russia with 21%, India with 33% or Mexico with 18%.
