Meridian (Philippines) is investing to establish a nationwide broadband wireless access infrastructure. Smart bought 40% of Meridian last year.

Medi Telecom (Morocco) was granted a fixed-line telephony license for less than $8.5m. Medi Telecom is own by Telefonica Moviles (32% and Portugal Telecom (32%).
