Ericsson again in digital content

Ericsson has made an hostile €1.2bn bid in cash for Tandberg TV. The offer outbids by about 10% a previous offer from Arris few weeks ago that has already been approved by Tandberg TV' s board. Tandberg TV has accepted to review Ericsson' s offer soon. Ericsson is well know by Tandberg as it already has a 12% stake in Tandberg TV.

It is the latest move by Ericsson to expand in broadband content and infra, after Redback, Entrisphere, and deal with Turner Broadcasting. Ericsson is undoubtly focusing on broadband. The acquisition would give Ericsson a coveted position in the cable operator equipment market. Ericsson shares were up on the news.
