World first-ever transmission

For the first time, a plane, during a flight, and a GEO satellite have exchanged data via a laser beam. Realized by EADS Astrium, within the LOLA project, it is a remarkable prowess to send a beam of light between two vessels at very different speeds and far 40,000 km from each other. The system will help send images and data between drones and remote operational centers via satellites.
