SUN Microsystems is to buy SeeBeyond, an application integration expert, for $387m. It is the second acquisition in the month (after StorageTeck in early June for $ 4.1bn).

 

Symantec ‘s CEO admitted it has made a big error in buying Veritas: lack of sales and product synergies. 

 

Curitel (Korea) will buy 60% equity in SK Teletech for $300m (Teletech is a subsidiary of SK Telecom).

 

Hon Hai (Taiwan) is to acquire Motorola's Tianjin plant in China.

 

Nokia announces that its venture capital unit BlueRun Ventures will continue to invest in India.

 

Cisco has bought NetSift, yet another security company, for $30m.

 

Motorola is buying some R&D assets of European mobile-phone startup Sendo (UK), as well as its patent portfolio.

 

France Telecom (FT) and Microsoft announced a partnership agreement for the joint development of multimedia products and services for mobile and fixed networks.

 

Siemens said it has no plans for finding a partner for its Communications unit.

 

Huawei may buy Soutec, a Chinese mobile phone maker. Soutec could be declared in bankruptcy.

 

Samsung and Motorola have signed an agreement to share patents for wireless communication technologies.

 

Ericsson will establish R&D center in Plano, Tx, its US headquarters.
