Actelis, a start-up in the carrier Ethernet market, raised $22m in its five round of funding. Founded in 1998, Actelis, which now employs 100, has amassed $119m of funding.

Stoke, a start-up in access gateway, has raised $20m in new funding, bringing its total funding to $50m. Stoke is also introducing its Session Exchange (SSX) product as a multi-access gateway that manages the voice, multimedia, and data sessions of users.

Intel and Sun have signed a strategic cross-agreement. Sun will begin to use Intel processors into its servers (in place of AMD devices), and Intel will endorse Sun's Solaris operating system (Unix) in return.

The two main Linux organizations (Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) et Free Standards Group (FSG) ) will merge to create the Linux Foundation. .
