100m WCDMA Customers

According to the UMTS Forum, there were 100m UMTS/WCDMA customers worldwide at the start of 2007, or 2/3 of all 3G cellular connections. The UMTS Forum Chairman forecasts that worldwide 3G subscriber numbers for all technologies will exceed 275m by the end of this year and could approach 800m by the turn of the decade on a total of 4bn mobile customers. By 2010, UMTS/WCDMA should account for 600m subscribers or 15% of all mobile subscriptions in the world.
