Macromedia is trying to enter the mobile market with its Flash technology. Its latest initiative is an integrated user interface for its Macromedia Breeze conferencing system.
Freescale Semiconductor says that it has a new multimode 3G WCDMA/EDGE cellular RF subsystem that can lead to smaller 3G handsets.
Nokia has teamed with Wayfinder Systems to pack a robust navigation system (Wayfinder Navigator application) along wit its own LBS (Wireless GPS Module) into its latest smartphone, the Nokia 6630.
Eurely and iNavSat, the two consortia bidding for European Galileo GPS system, have agreed to make a joint proposal. Galileo is a 30 satellite-based network and will be operational by 2008. AENA, Alcatel, EADS, Finmeccanica, Hispasat, Inmarsat and Thales are the companies involved in the project.
Broadcom filed a complaint last month against Qualcomm patent infringement by importing various electronic devices and chipsets. The US International Trade Commission has commenced an investigation.
