Vendor results - 19/10/06

Samsung Electronics has reported a 45% jump in 3Q06 net income to $2.3bn, on revenues of $16bn and operating income of $1.9bn. Telecom network business accounts for $5bn in revenues, and $550m in operating income. Mobile phones reported sales of 30.7m units in the quarter on sales of $4.7bn with a double-digit profit margin of 11%.

Motorola reports 3Q06 revenues of $10.6bn, up 17%, with net income of $968m, down 45%. More info in the Top stories item.

Intel posted a 35% drop in net profit for the 3Q06 quarter to $1.3bn, on revenues down 12% to $8.7bn.
