WiMAX taking off?
According to Frost & Sullivan, the answer could be Yes. With fast mobile internet and VOIP demand increasing, the cheapest broadband access solution has a competitive advantage. As examples, it cites Clearwire, a Craig McCaw company focused on WiMAX, rising $900m from Intel and Motorola, deploying a national (US) network coverage; but also Sprint which recently decided to launch national WiMAX services. We can also add The Silicon Valley Metro Connect project or a community network in Wichita Falls (Texas). And it is only few examples, with different size perspectives, highlighting the growing interest for the technology.
