Xanadoo has open a broadband wireless service in Wichita Falls (Texas) over WiMAX 802.16e equipments.

Vodafone will be providing ADSL broadband Internet connections to its customers in the UK under a deal with BT. It is in line with its new strategy, not to be mobile-only.

Free (France) will deploy a fiber optic network in France. The deployment will start first in Paris by Sept. 07 then in the country. By 2012, more than 4m French households should be passed. Free plans to provide FTTH acces at 50Mbit/s for the same monthly fee than ADSL (€30). Phase I of the project would cost €1bn.

Telus (Canada) has unveiled its plans to upgrade its broadband network, with a major fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) rollout targeted for 7,000 sites in the 38 largest towns in British Columbia, Alberta and eastern Quebec. It will spend $536m on the project.
