New telecom tax in sight in the US?

The cities of Baltimore and Montgomery have established a new $3.5/mo tax on mobile users!! This is in addition of current $8.75 taxes (both fed and state) on each mobile contract. As US cities are not allowed to raise taxes on

sales, the Baltimore and Montgomery initiatives should be declared illegal. But, the idea could be re-used by states, and in addition extended to any wireless access solution.  Lets hope, the idea will not propagate in other countries.
