U.S. cell phone market
According to the NPD Group, US consumers spent some $4.4bn on 67m mobile handsets in 1H06. Motorola dominates the US market with 32% market share, ahead of Nokia and LG with 16% each, Samsung with 15% and Sony Ericsson with 4%. Motorola captured 42% of the GSM market with Nokia second with 23% and Samsung third with 13%. LG led the CDMA market with 36%, followed by Samsung with 18% and Motorola with 14%.
