China' s production of mobile phones in the first five months period rose 66% to 174m units.

Motorola has extended its current distribution agreements with value added services provider Cellstar for the US and Latin America. It has shipped almost 52m mobile phones in the quarter.It has also signed an agreement with Yahoo to integrate Yahoo services in its handsets (first products in 1H07).

Nokia applies EU legislation on the restriction of hazardous substances to its global product portfolio. It has shipped 78m mobile phones in the quarter.

Samsung launches EDGE SGH-i320 Smartphone in Europe, and its first commercial GSM/ Wi Fi handset, the SGH-P200.

Skype is launching four dual-band GSM/Wi-fi mobile phone models.
