2G/2.5G still alive in developing countries

According to ABI, the developing world is not yet prepared to swallow 3G high upfront costs. What they need now are efficient and easily upgradeable 2G/2.5G networks. Demand is there, but money is not, so even with 2G/2.5G the most economical, efficient and upgradeable products will win. It is less than sure than products developed for developed countries will adequate such markets. ABI cites the Ericsson "Expander" program as a good example of a vendor meeting the challenge.
