International Linux OS effort
Motorola, Samsung, NEC, Panasonic, Vodafone and NTT DoCoMo have agreed to establish a global Linux-based software platform for mobile devices. The move aims to lower development costs and focus on a new API specification and architecture. It could be also analyzed as an attempt to be less dependent upon both Symbian/ Nokia and Microsoft's two current mobile OSs.
