UTStarcom received new orders, worth $ 50m and $ 20m respectively, from China Telecom and China Netcom to expand their respective PAS (WLL) network. Total PAS subscribers in China reached 72m by the end of March. UTStarcom announced an expansion contract with Japan Telecom for the deployment of several million lines of iAN-8000 multi-service access node and for several million lines of its NetRing 10000 STM-64 multiservice optical transport solution.. It also announced a new $10m deal with Fitel (Taiwan) for its PAS solution.

Sprint and Comcast have selected Cisco to build IP NGN networks.

Lucent has received an order from Tele2 Austria to deliver a Triple Play infrastructure (equipment and software). It also received an expansion contract from Telefonica Brazil to deliver IP, DSLAM and ATM gear for 180,000 new lines.

Microsoft gained its first customer for its Connected Services Framework solution: it is Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE).

Nera (Norway) gained a $5m order from Hondutel (Honduras) for a fixed wireless network, radiolinks and civil works.

Motorola got a 5-year contract from Verizon to deliver the optical equipment for deployment of the video network infrastructure portion of its FTTP systems. Motorola becomes the second source for this network after Tellabs. Motorola and ETI won a video contract for Conneaut Telephone, Ohio. Motorola is supplying its National Authorization Service - Regional Access Controller (NAS-RAC) solution. It will also supply its Broadband Services Router (BSR) family of products for deployment of advanced data services to Adelphia.

Cisco is delivering an Internet Protocol (IP) telephony solution to Novo Nordisk.

Redback has received orders from Arcor (Germany) to deploy its next-generation SmartEdge Service Gateway systems.

Siemens has delivered  a VOIP solution to Swisscom.

Huawei will supply WLL system to OmanTel.

NetCracker sold an OSS solution to Swisscom.

Minerva has delivered its IPTV solution to seven new independent telephone companies in 1Q05.

Alcatel will supply a satellite to China for the live TV broadcast of sports programs during the 2008 Olympic Games.

Fujitsu gained a lot of attention with its new WiMAX SoC chip. ZTE, Wi-LAN, SiGe, Aperto announced WiMAX agreements with Fujitsu.

Harmonic got TF1 (France) order for a video headend solution. The system will be used for the new DTT service.
