China hit another record

China hit a record with 416m mobile subscribers at the end of April. The growth is impressive since 1987 when China installed the first mobile facilities. In 1997, there were 10m mobile subscribers, and in 2001 it had the largest number of mobile phone subscribers in the world. In 2003, China mobile users outnumbered fixed-line phone subscribers, and now are 56m more than fixed line users. What will be the next milestone? 100M 3G users in 2008? or 1bn telephone users at about the same date?
