Europe and APAC Carrier Capex assessment

Infonetics Research has unveiled its latest assessment of worldwide carrier capex. European telecom carrier capex should reach €60bn this year, after increasing 10% to € 54bn in 2005. That accounts for about 15% of revenues on average in 2005 and slightly up to 15.5% in 2006. Incumbents are expected to strongly increase their capex growth rate in 2006 from 10% in 2005 to 18% in 2006. But cable operators and CAPs will reverse the trend

APAC telecom carrier capex is expected to grow 2% in 2006 (same as 2005, but after 13% in 2004) to €63bn. The growth will be driven by mobile operators (with +16%), cable and CAPs (with +8%), but incumbents will make capex cuts in 2006.
