Motorola 1Q06 results

Motorola posts strong revenue increase to $10bn in the quarter (+22%), a record in handset shipment with more than 46m units (+61%) and a market share of 21%+ in the handset market. Profit, however, declined 4% to $686m. Mobile devices sales in the fourth quarter hit $6.4bn (64% of the total revenues and +45% on the quarter), while Network equipment sales for the quarter were $1.43bn (down 14%). Government and Enterprise Mobility Solutions Segment sales were $1.5bn, up 2%, while Connected Home Solutions Segment sales were $710m, up 7%. Operating cash flow of approximately $700m.
