Nortel getting worse? After restating financials once again, its CEO said that Nortel has decided to exit, sell or create a partnership in three or four areas of its business in the near future. Nortel has decided to focus development efforts only on technology areas where it has roughly 20% market share. Zafirovski said that Nortel is going to focus on WiMAX, IMS and IPTV.

Ericsson is not interested in buying large players, but would acquire only small- to medium-sized companies that can add value to its portfolio of products and services, said its CEO. It also said that the Alcatel-Lucent could bring more consolidation and some market opportunities.

Motorola has been granted content licenses from Sony BMG catalogues.

UTStarcom and ARRIS have entered into a joint development, licensing and supply deal.

IBM has developed and unveiled "SecureBlue," a set of encryption circuitry that can be integrated into any processor, and particularly in mobile devices.
