PT Telkom (Indonesia) reports 1Q08 net profit of $ 342m (+5%) on revenues of $1.6bn (+8.5%). EBITDA improved 6% to $1bn.
Safaricom (Kenya) said its net profit reached $199m (+15%) on revenues of $882m (+29%).
Vodafone posts strong results with FY08 net profit reaching £6.7bn (vs a loss last year) on sales of £35.5bn (+14%). EBITDA rose 10% to £13bn.
OTE (Greece) said its 1Q08 operating income declined 8% to €240m, on revenues up 2% to €1.5bn.
ALU CEO, Pat Russo, sees the telecom carrier market flat in 2008.
Vimpelcom (Russia) reports better-than-expected results with 1Q08 net income of $600m (+117%) on revenues of $2.1bn (+47%).
Ciena reports strong FY2Q results with net income jumping 83% to $24m, but stock has fallen over 4% to $1.3 due to the forecast increase in expenses due to the purchase of World Wide Packets.
ADC said its FY2Q gross margin improved to over 36% (+2 points) and sales reached $403m (+16%). It raised its 2008 guidance by 15% to $1.52bn.
