Ovum-RHK has released its latest edition of forecasts on the optical networking market. 4Q05 revenues for the segment grew 7% to $3bn, and 2005 total reached $11bn, up 17%, of which the multiservice SONET/SDH ADM totaled almost $5bn and the metro DWDM topping $1.4bn.

Alcatel and Huawei were the only vendors to report over $1bn sales in optical networking ($1,7bn for Alcatel), and increased their market share by over 3 points, while Lucent and Fujitsu each lost over 2 points.

All regions grew over 10% in 2005, with continued strong growth in North America and EMEA and a return to growth in both Asia-Pacific and CALA.
