Top 10 MNOs in APAC

Time is changing: DoCoMo, the mobile pioneer is out of the podium. Unsurprisingly, the two main Chinese mobile operators (China Mobile and China Unicom) are the clear top leaders with respectively 368m users and almost 163m. But we were used to see DoCoMo with the bronze medal with something in the range of 52m subs. Japan has unfortunately not the potential of the Indian market, and Bharti Airtel just overtakes DoCoMo for the podium. Telkomsel in Indonesia is on the heels of the duo with just below 50m, but its growth rate would allow it to overtake DoCoMo sooner or later. Behind, most challengers are coming from India, with Reliance, Vodafone India and BSNL. Pakistan Mobile and KDDI close the ranking, but there are many MNOs in the range of 10m+ to 25m+ subscribers that can mix the cards again in coming quarters. All top 10 MNOs have all well over 25m subscribers, an unrivaled situation in the world. Their combined subscriber base amounted to over 850m, about 25% of the worldwide market.
