Top 10 MNOs in LATAM

The Latam mobile market is very competitive, and, either by subscriber base or by net additions, can rival with other markets. The top 10 mobile operators account for a combined 240m subscriber base, but behind, there were lots of small operators with subscriber base between 2 and 9 m. The top 10 list is made of four operators from Brazil, three from Argentina, two from Mexico and one from Colombia. Telcel Mexico leads the pack with around 50m subscribers (+6.8m net adds in 2007); rank 2, 3 and 4 are trusted by three Brazil MNOs: Brasilcel, Telecom Americas Brazil, with respectively 34m, 32m and 30m subscribers. Comcel Columbia took the fifth place with almost 23m, followed by TNL PCS Brazil with ca. 17m, Moviles Argentina with 15m, CTI Argentina with 14m and Moviles Mexico with 13m. Personal Argentina ends the ranking with 10m+ subscribers, but with CANTV, Telcel Venezuela and Moviles Colombia or even Moviles Peru on the heels.

The same 10 operators added some 41.5m new subscribers in 2007, giving a growth rate of over 17%. This not too bad, given the local penetration rate and average income levels.
