M-Tel (Bulgaria) has increased the coverage of its EDGE network to 9 new cities.

Telekom Malaysia is in talks to buy a stake in India' s Spice Telecom

3 Italia' s IPO has been approved by Italy's market watchdog Consob.

Lithuania has awarded three 3G licenses. The winners are Teliasonera' s subsidiary Omnitel, Bite and Tele2.

Telenor is considering increasing its stake in Russia’s VimpelCom only after the conflict over the purchase of Ukrainian URS is resolved.

Tele2 has increased its stake in Russia's Lipetsk Mobile to 100%.

MTC (Kuwait) has bought 61% of Sudanese Mobitel for $1.3bn.

Another retailer is launching mobile services in Europe, mimicking Wal-Mart (across Europe) and Aldi (Germany): Carrefour will start its own mobile phone service in Belgium this month.
