Motorola, Fujitsu and NEC have co-developed with DoCoMo new HSDPA prototype phones.

Kyocera announced plans to build dual-mode CDMA/ Wi-Fi handsets using chips from Marvell Technology, as well as its KR1 Mobile Router creating a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot for multiple PCs using 802.11g technology.

STMicroelectronics and FT announced an R&D partnership agreement and project on secure mobile platform and SIM card IC architectures.
