Vendor results - 04/02/06

JDSU reported 4Q05 losses of $42m (almost flat) on revenues of $313m (+73%). JDSU sees continued strong demand for optical components.

Alcatel announced better than expected results. Its net profit rose 61% in 2005 to €930m on revenues of €13bn (+7%). Its wireline BU (€5.2bn) reported 2% revenue growth in2005 and an operating income of €579 (flat), but reported strong growth in both revenues (+12%) and operating income (+61%) in 4Q05. Its mobile BU increased its sales by 23% to €4.1bn and reported an operating profit of €436m (+4%) in the year 2005.
Alcatel will distribute a dividend for the first time in four years. Alcatel has yet to name the successor to its current CEO Tchuruk, who will retire as CEO June 1, having led the company for the past 11 years.

ECI Telecom reports 4Q05 revenues of $69m (+21%) and net income of $7.6m (615%). Full year revenues were $630m (+27%) and net income reached $40m (+292%).
