China 3G expected road
According to Norson Consulting, China could issue 3G licenses in 1H06, and users could be 15m by year-end, to grow to 125m by 2010. China Mobile is expected to receive a WCDMA license, and could have 50m 3G users in 2010; China Unicom could keep its 2G CDMA network and receive a license for CDMA2000, it could have 40m 3G subscribers in 2010; China Telecom would receive Unicom's 2G GSM network as well as a license for TD-SCDMA, it could have 30m 3G users in 2010; China Netcom could be merged in China Unicom; China Telecom should be the first operator granted a TD-SCDMA license, but starting from scratch, it would face tough road to build confidence and customer base.
