China to help its telecom industry

China has decided to offer financial support to six Chinese companies, all involved with TD-SCDMA : ZTE Communications, ZTE Software Technology, ChinaFairnews.com, Huawei Technologies, Vimicro and Bird. In addition, MII will fund three core net IMS developers including Huawei, Shanghai Xinfang Intellectual System Company and Shanghai Bell- Alcatel.

Up to now, four sets of system equipment have been developed by Datang Mobile, Alcatel-Shanghai Bell, Putian, Nortel, TD Tech and ZTE.

China's 3G equipment market is expected to reach $7.4bn annually from 2006.
