France Telecom may invest in Spain's Euskatel, the leading telecom operator in the Basque region.

Microsoft announced the sale to NBC Universal of the cable channel MSNBC, its JV with NBC.

KDDI is dealing with TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power- Japan) to combine in some way their fiber-optic services. The combined subs will be close to 360,000.

The European Commission said Deutsche Telecom' s proposed €3bn high-speed fiber-to-the node network needs to be regulated. Competitors would be given access to the new network.
