IDC forecasts PC market growth in 2006

Low-cost and portable PCs will drive double-digit growth of the personal computer market in 2006. After 17% growth rate in 3Q05, and an expected 15% in 4Q05, annual growth rate this year should reach almost 16%. Prediction for 2006 should be around 10%-11%. PC shipment amounted to 208m units in 2005 and should grow to 300m by 2009. Shipment value is expected to be $210bn this year and grow with a CAGR of 3,6% to $250bn in 2009.
