Nortel in the GPON game?
Nortel has responded to the major GPON request for proposals (RFP) from three major RBOCs (Verizon, Bellsouth and AT&T). What does it means as Nortel gave up the access market in 2001 (selling its access assets at the beginning of the telecom turmoil as non-strategic)? Is it a come-back? Nortel has teamed up with Calix Networks in the access market since 2001, but the it is unlikely that Nortel responded with Calix, which can game itself (with its Optical Solution portfolio).
