Motorola raised $1.4bn in bond sale to repay debt.

Safran (France) unloads its Sagem Comms division for €383m to a US equity investor Gores Group. The division has 6,500 people, and €1.3bn 2006 revenues.

ALU has sold 12.4% of Avanex shares (it received when it sold its Optronics division to Avanex in 2003) to Pirelli.

Garmin offers $3.3bn for taking over Tele Atlas in the superheated LBS space, while TomTom only valued the company at $2.8bn.

Cisco plans $16bn investment in China over the next three to five years. That is about the double of what Cisco spent in China since 2002 (mainly procurement of components and services).

Cisco and Wipro (India) have signed a strategic alliance to build joint IT infrastructure service solutions.
