SAR: The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has just published a new standard for testing cellphone radiation emissions. SAR is an index that quantifies the rate of energy absorption in biological tissue. For Europe, Japan and Korea, the current limit is 2 W/kg, for the United States, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand and a number of other countries, the limit is 1.6 W/kg. The lower, the better.  It will strongly help clarify (if advertised) health concern about radiation impact on human body. When will SAR be a commercial rationale?

 

Market consolidation: In spite of a new offer at $ 8bn last week, Qwest was rebuffed by MCI. MCI agreed to be bought by Verizon for $ 6.7bn, made of $ 4.8bn in stock, $0.5bn in cash and $ 1.5bn in dividends. The Boards of Directors of both companies have approved the agreement. Qwest, however, isn't ready to give up and plans to submit a renewed bid for MCI!! …..
