Vodafone will sell the Samsung F700, a rival to to Apple's iPhone, for Xmas. It will also offer 15 new 3G handsets and an unlimited music download service on 2.5G and 3G handsets.

Clearwire and ICO will collaborate for trialling mobile TV.

Turkcell (Turkey) was awarded the license to implement 3G technology in Turkey. It was the sole bidder.

Orange is in talks to take a financial stake in the French MVNO, Ten.

MTN (S. Africa) starts tender for a national 5000-km long fiber network.

Orascom Telecom is considering a mobile alliance in France with Illiad/ Free that bids for the fourth mobile license.

Vimpelcom (Russia) will invest about $10bn in Vietnamese mobile JV.

SK telecom (S. Korea) and T-Systems (Germany) will jointly enter the mobile broadcasting market in Europe and Asia.

3 Italy could be up for sale.

OnMobile (India) bought 100% of French software firm Voxmobili.

T-Mobile has signed an exclusive deal with Apple to carry the iPhone in Germany, and is reportedly in talks with 3 UK about possibly sharing UK network infrastructures.
