Carrier capex growing
Carrier capex growing
After two years of capex growth, telecom carriers are expected to increase them again, according to Infonetics, by 6% in 2005 to $190m. Growth is driven by investments in next-generation technologies such as packet voice, broadband, metro Ethernet, and IP/MPLS routers. Capital expenditures are fairly balanced across the three regions, each accounting for 33% of the total. NA incumbent carriers would increase their capex 9% in 2005. European capex would grow 6%, but mainly driven by Eastern Europe and competitive carriers; APAC investments would only grow 3% and even drop 3% in China and Korea after massive build-outs in past years.
