Alcatel and Sun Microsystems sign major cooperation agreement on IT-based mobile core network solutions.

Ericsson is to buy most assets of Marconi (UK) for €1.7bn. In a separate announcement,it said it will locate R&D facilities in India (Chennai, and Gurgaon).

Juniper Networks has acquired Acorn Packet Solutions in a cash transaction worth $9m.

Nortel sold its headquarters in Brampton, Ont. For C$100m to Rogers Communications.

Siemens has bought software provider GlooLabs.
