Vendor results - 23/10/05
LG posts a 48% drop in 3Q05 net earnings to $149m and 1.5% fall in sales. Its handset division continues to do well with the shipment of 15.5m units (of which 8.8 CDMA handsets and 1.1 WCDMA phones).
Redback posted 3Q05 sales of $36.4m, up 73%, fueled by sales in Asia, and a net loss of $8.4m (from a loss of $12.5 a year ago). Redback is confident to break even in 4Q05.
Juniper announced 3Q05 earnings of $84m on sales of $ 546m. On a pro forma basis, earnings grew 56% and sales were up 45%.
Nokia reports net profit of €881m, while sales grew 18% to €8.4bn. Main concerns today are declines in price and margins.
Avici announced 9-month revenues of $31m, up 36%, and net loss of $7.8m (vs loss of $ 10.4m a year earlier).
Ericsson posts solid 3Q05 financial results in the quarter with sales up 14% to $4.6bn and net income of $ 675m vs $560 a year earlier. Gross margin slipped 2 points to about 45%.
