A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to In-Stat, the Bluetooth market had another successful year in 2006 that could continue in 2007 (+34%). However, market growth for Bluetooth products is beginning to slow.

  • According to ABI Research, mobile data applications and services used by business customers will generate over $100 billion in worldwide revenue by 2012.

  • Strategy Analytics found that mobile phone shipments reached 258m in 2Q07, up 4% qoq.

  • According to ABI Research, the smartphone market segment will grow from 218 million units in 2007 to 426 million units in 2012.

  • According to iSupply, the strong demand for VDSL would boost the demand for copper in coming years.

  • According to CCID Consulting, Nokia, Motorola and Samsung are increasing their combined Chinese market share for mobile phones by almost 10% to over 61%. The main driver for the growth is the Nokia and Motorola major offensives in the low-end mobile phone market in the first half of 2007.

  • Ovum predicts that China will rank by IPTV user among the top five countries worldwide by 2009.

  • China's PC market is expected to enjoy a CAGR of 13.2% in the following 5 years, said IDC.

  • Juniper Research forecasts HSPA technology to dominate mobile broadband network deployments over the next five years. About 33% of mobile subscribers will use a mobile broadband connection by 2012. This will represent over 1.2bn users!!!

  • Chinese HDTV service market are generally adopting wait-and-see strategies, so HDTV subscriber growth will be slow in China over the next several years, according to In-Stat.

  • The French PC market grew almost 8% in 2Q07 to 1.85m units shipped in the quarter. This is below the European average at 9%.

  • ABI Research founds that Motorola' s ultra low cost handsets (ULCH) are at the top of the latest Vendor Matrix, followed by Nokia, Samsung and LG.

  • According to GFK Turkiye, 4.3m handsets were sold in Turkey in the first five months of this year. Nokia is the market leader with over 50% market share.
