Jordan Telecom has introduced its fixed-line services under the Orange trademark.

SingTel and Optus will lead a group of companies (called G9) in a bid to build a high-speed broadband network in Australia.

Bangladesh's Grameenphone has completed the deployment of its fiber-optic network between the East and West zones of the country.

NTT (Japan) reports that the volume of subscribers signing for fixed-line services is declining below the 50m mark for the first time in two decades. NTT is contemplating 30 million fibre-optic circuits by 2010 in order to attract customers and reverse the decline.
