ALU will upgrade Brasil Telecom GlobeNet's 22,000 km submarine network and double its capacity. It won a triple-play contract from Kenya Data Network (KDN) under a $19m deal. It will double Kazakhtelecom’ s network capacity across 11 regions in Kazakhstan. Global Crossing selects Alcatel-Lucent for global maintenance services. ALU has been selected by Connexion (USA) to deploy its FTTH solution in 20 master-planned communities across the United States. Momentum (USA) will use ALU' s GPON solution.

ALU and Ericsson have been named suppliers of ATT GPON deployment. For Ericsson, it is a major breakthrough.

Motorola will deploy a WiMAX trial network with Vietnam Datacom Company.

Nortel will deploy a WiMAX regional network for Austar (Australia).

Italtel (Italy) will build a NGN network for On Telecoms, an alternative Greek triple play service provider.

ZTE has inked a significant contract with Telekom Malaysia to provide the MSAN (multi-service access network) solutions.

Alvarion is part of the $1.6bn Australian government "Australia Connected" project for broadband deployment throughout the country.

Thales Alenia Space France will build, for Indosat, a Palapa D satellite to be launched in 2009.
