Mobile future
A new report from Forward Concepts gives forecasts by technology and by region through 2011 of handsets, subscribers and chips of all types. The reports highlights that Europe will be the fastest-growing market for WCDMA in 2007, while WEDGE will begin to dominate the 3G market. Low-cost handsets will continue to drive the volume market for the next three years, but the cell phone will include more and more features, such as digital cameras (2Mpixels mini), MP3 players, GPS navigators, Bluetooth, WLAN access, FM Radio, multi-standard mobile TV, cordless phones, and become the Swiss knife, damaging the market of related stand alone devices. The report gives also forecasts of the market shares of cellphone vendors by air technology.
