A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to Crown Castle/ Modeo, their mobile TV trial has revealed relative strong demand for mobile TV: an average 15mn of use a day, with 64% of users were very satisfied and 35% satisfied.

  • According to In-Stat, the worldwide market for Multi-Service Business Gateway (MSBG) would grow to $2.6bn in 2011 (from $615m in 2006). Cisco is leading this market.

  • In the USA, more than half of all US cellphones are cameraphones, according to M:Metrics.

  • In-Stat assesses the User-Generated Content worldwide revenues to increase to $1.6bn in 2011 (from $80m in 2006).

  • Yankee Group sees the Chinese WiMAX market to reach 8.4m users in 2011. The market would be driven by smaller players and municipal WiMAX providers and not by traditional big 4 telcos.

  • The recent FCC decision not to allow mobile calling in flight does not prevent international big airlines companies to trial the service. Latest in date: Air France, BMI, RyanAir and Quantas.

  • According to Cable Digital, the combined worldwide shipments of cable data and voice modems hit a new record with 30m units in 2006.
